Magnificent Qiantang River Tide Attracts Tourists in September

Enormous waves surge forward along the Qiantang River in Haining, East China's Zhejiang province this week. Tourists are flocking to there in the hope of seeing the biggest tidal bore on the Qiantang River in nine years.

The mountainous waves reached a height of 1.4 meters, creating a spectacular scene on Spet 12th, the Mid-autumn Day of China. And the tide is expected to reach its peak on Spet 14th.

The Qiantang River Tide is China's most famous tidal bore and the world's largest. The bore is formed at the mouth of the Qiantang River where it joins Hangzhou Bay by the large tidal rise and the bottleneck shape of the bay.

Yanguan in Haining is the best place to watch the magnificent tidal wave and Qiantang Tide Watching Festival is held here. Local people will organize colorful activities to celebrate this event such as a temple fair, folk song and dances performances, operas and lantern competition.
