2011 Fragrant Hills Red Leaf Festival kicks off in Beijing

The 2011 Fragrant Hills Red Leaf Festival opens in Beijing today. The festival is annually held in Beijing in the autumn time, and it lasts form Oct 12 to Nov 6 this year. Thousands of tourists will come to the Fragrant Hills Park to appreciate the stunning view of red leaves.

Located in the northwestern part of Beijing, Fragrant Hills Park is recognized as one of the major tourist attractions in the city. It covers 1.6 kmĀ² (395 acres) and consists of a natural pine-cypress forest, hills with maple trees, smoke trees and persimmon trees, as well as landscaped areas with traditional architecture and cultural relics. When autumn arrives, the natural scenery in the park turns spectacular, with fiery red smoke tree leaves covering the mountain side.
