Downstream: Chongqing - Shanghai 10 days & 9 nights

Day 1Chongqing: Ship Embarkation

Welcome to Chongqing, the City of Mountain. Enjoy some Chongqing local foods on your own and then embark the Century Sky before 21:00 at Chongqing Chaotianmen Port 重庆朝天门码头in the downtown.

Cruise departs from Chongqing at 21:30. You can go to the Sun Deck to enjoy the resplendent night view of Chongqing City, which is regarded as the “little Hong Kong”.

Day 2Zhongxian: Shibaozhai Pagoda and Optional Fengdu Ghost City. B/L/D

In the morning, you will enjoy free morning tea and coffee in the bar. If the weather permits, you can also practice Tai Chi with a professional trainer on the sunshine deck. After breakfast, you can at your leisure onboard with some onboard activities or take an optional tour to Fengdu Ghost City (CNY290/pp/tour). In the afternoon, you will take shore excursion to ShibaoZhai Pagoda (about 2.5 hours). Then you will be welcomed to enjoy the Captain’s Welcome Reception before dinner. At night, the Crew Cabaret Show will be held grandly at around 21:00.

Shibaozhai Pagoda - the antique tower reputed as one of the gems of Chinese architectures and listed as one of the "Top 8 Most Peculiar Architectures in the World" by the American Discovery. This 12-story red wooden building stably standing along the mountain looks unbelievable and beautiful under sunshine. Climb from one level to the upper one to know the historical stories of the Yangtze River and reach the upper area to enjoy the view of Zhongxian County and Yangtze River.

Fengdu Ghost City (CNY290/pp) - With a history of about two thousand years, Fengdu Ghost City combines the cultures of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism with the mystique of ghosts. The demonic images, terrifying torture devices and other relics there reflect the notion that good people will be treated well in the afterlife and that bad people will be punished by going to hell. Vivid reference of this "ghost city" was mentioned in many Chinese classic novels like Journey to the West and Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio.

Day 3Wushan & Yichang: Shennv Stream, Three Gorges, Ship Locks and Optional White Emperor City. B/L/D

After breakfast, you can at your leisure onboard or join in the optional shore excursion to the White Emperor City (CNY290/pp). About 11:00, Century SKY will sail through the spectacular Qutang Gorge, followed by the magnificent Wu Gorge. The guide would introduce you to the unique scenery on both sides on the sun deck. After lunch, you will have the excursion at the Shennv Stream (about 3 hours), changing from your Century SKY into a smaller boat. Return to your Century SKY, you will enjoy the MOVIE NIGHT, and then you will continue cruising in direction to Three Gorges Dam Side through 5-step ship locks.

White Emperor City (290RMB/person) - known as the “Poem City”, it is the creating site of numerous classic ancient poems of famous literati, including Li Bai, Du Fu, etc. Thus, follow the local guide to know those interesting stories to enjoy the cultural essence of this great place. Also, you can go to appreciate Kuimen Gate of the Qutang Gorge from the best angle of view.

Qutang Gorge - this gorge is the most precipitous and most magnificent one among all the three gorges. Once you are sailing there, the steep hills that can be 1,500 meters high, and the narrow river path would leave you its dramatic but superb hidden.

Wu Gorge - it is the most beautiful gorge. Famous for its rising mists, it is like a mysterious young lady with spectacular sightseeing of deep valleys and prosperous plant-covered mountains by the wide water. In autumn, Wu Gorge changes its costume into orange and red with the vigorous red leaves embracing all mountains.

The Shennv Stream - It is a stream between the Qingshi town and the Feifeng peak, with 15 kilometers long. Because of the turbulence of the water and the narrow stream, there are 10 kilometers as remote valley. After the dam's three phase of storage, tourists can go deep into the depths of the gorge to explore, then surprised see beautiful scenery and the original inhabitants.

Three Gorges Dam Five Stages Ship Locks - so far the largest ship locks globally. With a water height difference of 113 meters in total, it is the most complicated ship locks to construct universally. At night hours after dinner, experience sailing through the ship locks.

Day 4Yichang: Three Gorges Dam, Xiling Gorge, Gezhou Dam. B/L/D

After an early breakfast, you will join the shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam Site (about 2.5hours, Exclude the battery cars CNY10/pp). Then return onboard for lunch. After lunch, you can enjoy some activities onboard or join in the optional shore excursion to the Tribe of the Three Gorges (CNY290/pp). Upon your return, Century SKY sails through the natural beauty of the Xiling Gorge and go through Gezhou Dam. After dinner, you’ll be invited to join a karaoke club.

Tribe of the Three Gorges (290RMB/pp) - praised as the “Protected Center of the Popular Culture and Art of the Three Gorges”, it is one of the best sites for Yangtze cruise travelers. Roam along the Water-side, Brook-side and Mountain villages to enjoy the beauty of local Tujia tribe, peaceful life and pleasant living environment.

Three Gorges Dam - the world’s largest and most complicated hydroelectric station. Go up to the Tanziling Ridge to admire the panorama of the whole dam project, the five stage ship locks, and the sightseeing of the blossoms and trees. Since it contributes a lot to flood control, electricity generation, shipping, etc. in China, you also can visit the exhibition center and other spots to know about its working theory and history.

Xiling Gorge - it is the most beautiful and most dangerous gorge. Sail along and admire its turbulent water, high mountains, rugged shoals, and its gorgeous and peculiar sightseeing.

Gezhou Dam - the first large hydraulic station on Yangtze River. It contributes a lot to solve the electricity shortage in the middle and east China, also improves the navigating ability of the river path at Three Gorges section. Sail through this complimentary engineering to experience its charm.

Day 5Jingzhou: Jingzhou Ancient City Wall, Jingzhou Museum. B/L/D

After your breakfast, take a half day tour to discover the highlights in Jingzhou city to visit the Jingzhou Ancient City Wall and Jingzhou Museum (the whole tour will cost about 3.5hours). Lunch is served after you back from the tour.

Enjoy your leisure afternoon onboard and then join in the Game Party with lucky draws to win some good souvenirs at around 21:00 after dinner.

Jingzhou Ancient City Wall - As one of the best preserved and large scaled city wall in south China, it shows the original city boundary of the ancient Jingzhou from the Warring States period. The present keeping city wall with a perimeter of 12 kilometers long was rebuilt from 1646 in Qing dynasty based on its appearance and foundation in Ming dynasty.

Jingzhou Museum Collecting over 130 thousand pieces of historical cultural relics, it is one of the top National First Class Museums in China. You can enjoyably admire the top best silk from the Warring States period, well preserved swords of famous ancient kings, colorful lacquer exhibitions from the Warring States period, Qin and Han dynasties. More importantly, you can watch the best preserved and most historic ancient male corpse from the Western Han dynasty, which was buried in 167 BC.

Day 6Wuhan: Hubei Provincial Museum, East Lake Scenic Area. B/L/D

Today, take a half-day city tour in Wuhan to visit Hubei Provincial Museum (about 1.5hours) and East Lake. Then, return onboard. You can spend the afternoon hours on the various activities.

Hubei Provincial Museum - One of the 8 national class museums in China. Collecting over 240 thousand precious historic and cultural relics, with nearly 1,000 being the national first class, Hubei Provincial Museum never fails to impress visitors with its wonderful displays about the strong culture of the ancient Chu State and the civilization of ancient Yangtze River region. Among all relics, the "Chime-bells from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of the Zeng State, the Sword of Goujian, Human Skull Fossils from Yunxian County, and the Blue and White plum vase of the four loves in Yuan Dynasty are the “four treasures of Hubei Provincial Museum”.

East Lake Scenic Area - the largest scenic area in Wuhan that is featuring the natural beauty of lake, plants and the ethnic charm of antique pavilions, gardens and lounge bridges. Wondering in this scenic area provide great opportunity to experience the local leisure life. East Lake has long been a tourist attraction since ancient times. Many famous ancient poets and artists used to gather there for inspiration. There is a poetry-reciting Pavilion (行吟阁) in the main Scenic Area - Tingtao area, inside which you can find the works of the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan (340 BC- 278 BC).

Day 7Jiujiang / Jindezhen: Shizhong Mountain or Jingdezhen. B/L/D

After breakfast, enjoy a bus tour to the famous Shizhong Mountain (about 3.5 hours) or an optional bus day tour to Jingdezhen (CNY380/pp with a day tour of about 9 hours).

If you choose to visit the Shizhong Mountain, lunch will be served after back from the mountain forward with some onboard activities. And if you decide to visit Jindezheng, lunch is served at the tour site (Table dinner, ten people /table).

Shizhong Mountain - has a long history and is the most renowned mountain among those that can produce fantastic sound in China. Due to the plentiful gaps between the rocks, the streams hit onto the rocks and makes amazing sounds like coming from a bell – that's why it is named after Shizhong (rock bell). For the characteristic feature, it has been put on the list of World Cultural Landscapes by the United Nations. From the peak of the mountain, views stretch over the Poyang Lake and the Yangtze River as well as the vast rural landscape that stretches like a chessboard over the horizon.

Jingdezhen (CNY380/pp) - The well-known City of Ceramics for over 1,000 years. Visit the ancient porcelain factory, ancient kiln porcelain yard and ceramic Expo area to see from the ancient kilns, historic sites of ceramic production, ancient streets, and a series of sites of full steps of its manufacture, to various outstanding ceramic products with subtle lines, patterns and luster, and those cherished cultural records and materials of ceramics in China, through which Jingdezhen tells the glorious success of China’s ceramic production and the superb skill of Chinese people among the world. Day 8Chizhou: Xinghuacun Ancient Village or Mount Jiuhua. B/L/D

After breakfast around 09:00am, you will pay a visit to Xinghuacun Ancient Village (about 3.5 hours) or join the optional day tour to Mt. Jiuhua with surcharge of CNY480/pp (about 5 hours).

If you decide to visit Xinghuacun, lunch will be served onboard. And if you choose to visit Mt. Jiuhua, lunch will be served on the way. For the rest of the day, you can free yourself on the various activities onboard.

Xinghuacun Ancient Village - it is reputed as the “No. 1 Village under Heaven” for the famous poem called “Qingming” by Du Mu from Tang dynasty, this ancient village tells what the best romantic scenes of rain, blossoms, and liquor. It is said poem and liquor are the best friends by many famous ancient poets in China. Roam in the site famous for producing liquor, walk by the old wooden houses, bridges, and gardens, and know about the stories of Du Mu and the idyllic rural life of leisure.

Mount Jiuhua (CNY480/pp) - one of the four sacred mountains in Chinese Buddhism. Mount Jiuhua is dedicated to Ksitigarbha (Chinese Pinyin: Dizang), a bodhisattva and protector of beings in hell realms according to Mahayana Buddhist tradition. According to historical records, the time for Buddhism firstly introduced to Mount Jiuhua can be traced back to the year 401 AD. For all these years, Mount Jiuhua has been constantly attracting people from all over the world to make pilgrimages there. Aside from the existing exquisite ancient Buddhist architectures and grand culture, Mt. Jiuhua is also a fantastic place for breathtaking natural scenery, such as sunrise, sea of cloud, the Light of Buddha,peculiar rocks.

Day 9Taizhou: Ancient City Wall, Fengcheng River, Port Carved Building Garden. B/L/D

After your breakfast, visit Taizhou to explore its charming Ancient City Wall, Tower, Gardens, River, etc. You will experience a smaller boat tour on Fengcheng River there. Lunch will be at the Ancient Town. Around 15:30 back to the cruise.

You can spend the afternoon hours on the various activities. After dinner, you’ll be welcomed to join the Crew Cabaret Show at around 21:00.

Taizhou Ancient City Wall - Taizhou has a long history of more than 2,100 years and the construction of its Ancient City Wall can date back at least to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127 AD - 1279 AD). Taizhou city wall played vital role in resisting enemies and protected the Taizhou City in the history. The existing Ancient City Wall is only a short section of the original one, but every brick and arrow mark on the wall can still tell you the tough fighting times of Taizhou and Taizhou people.

Fengcheng River - is a vital moat outside the Taizhou City. Boating on there, you will easily absorb its profound history since South Tang Dynasty over 1,000 years ago. Fengcheng River banks, Wanghai Tower, Peach Flower Scenic Area, etc. all show the typical operas, folk art and business culture of Taizhou and unveil the unique charm of the old city.

Port Carved Building Garden - Countless delicate carvings on various parts of the antique buildings will show you the high artistic value of Chinese old gardens. Also, you will have a highly fun time with the interesting design and display of the lake, garden, terraces, corridors, etc. Besides, in the scenic area, there are the valuable Square Building of Sun Family and Jinshi Building of Qi Family. You can go to the Sun Deck to enjoy the resplendent night view of Lujiazui area, the Bund, the Oriental Pearl Tower and Huangpu River with fascinating colors of lights.

Local climate is favorable, making it a popular summer resort. Observant Buddhist make a pilgrimage to climb Greater Tiantai peak, regarded as Jiuhuashan’s most important, although not the tallest. The construction of temples began in the Tang Dynasty and was enlarged in subsequent dynasties. The Buddhist influence still remains to this day throughout this area.

After your breakfast, take a half day tour to discover the highlights in Jingzhou city to visit the Jingzhou Ancient City Wall and Jingzhou Museum (the whole tour will cost about 3.5hours).

Lunch is served after you back from the tour. For the rest of the day, you can free yourself on the various activities onboard.

Jingzhou Ancient City Wall - As one of the best preserved and large scaled city wall in south China, it shows the original city boundary of the ancient Jingzhou from the Warring States period. The present keeping city wall with a perimeter of 12 kilometers long was rebuilt from 1646 AD in Qing dynasty (1644 AD - 1912 AD) based on its appearance and foundation in Ming dynasty (1368 AD - 1644 AD).

Jingzhou Museum - Collecting over 130 thousand pieces of historical cultural relics, it is one of the top National First Class Museums in China. You can enjoyably admire the top best silk from the Warring States period, well preserved swords of famous ancient kings, colorful lacquer exhibitions from the Warring States period, Qin (221 BC - 207 BC) and Han (202 BC - 8 AD, 23 AD - 220 AD) dynasties. More importantly, you can watch the best preserved and most historic ancient male corpse from the Western Han dynasty, which was buried in 167 BC.

Day 7Yichang: Ship Locks, Three Gorges Dam and Optional Tribe of Three Gorges. B/L/D

After an early breakfast, you can enjoy some onboard activities or join in the optional shore excursion to the historical and cultural site of Three Gorges Tribe (290/pp). After lunch onboard, you will join the shore excursion to the Three Gorges Dam Site (about 3 hours). After dinner, you will continue cruising in direction to Three Gorges Dam Site through 5-step ship locks. The tour guide will tell you the relevant information about the 5-step ship locks.

Tribe of the Three Gorges (290RMB/person) - praised as the “Protected Center of the Popular Culture and Art of the Three Gorges”, it is one of the best sites for Yangtze cruise travelers. Roam along the Water-side, Brook-side and Mountain villages to enjoy the beauty of local Tujia tribe, peaceful life and pleasant living environment.

Three Gorges Dam - the world’s largest and most complicated hydroelectric station. Go up to the Tanziling Ridge to admire the panorama of the whole dam project, the five stage ship locks, and the sightseeing of the blossoms and trees. Since it contributes a lot to flood control, electricity generation, shipping, etc. in China, you also can visit the exhibition center and other spots to know about its working theory and history.

Three Gorges Dam Five Stages Ship Locks - So far the largest ship locks globally. With a water height difference of 113 meters in total, it is the most complicated ship locks to construct universally. At night hours after dinner, experience sailing through the ship locks.

Day 8Wushan & Yichang: Shennv Stream, Three Gorges and Optional White Emperor City. B/L/D

After breakfast, you will change from your cruise into a smaller boat to have the excursion at the Shennv Stream (about 3 hours). Upon your return, Century SKY sails through the natural beauty of the Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge, the tour guide will introduce the unique scenery of the two banks on the sunshine deck. After lunch onboard, you can relax yourself for some onboard activities or join in the optional shore excursion to the White Emperor City (CNY290/pp). After enjoy dinner onboard, you’ll be welcomed to the Lounge to enjoy Waltz.

Shennv Stream: also called Goddess Stream for its fairy legendary. Take the sightseeing boat to sail through the primitive and deep gorge valley, and experience reaching the heart of the tranquil nature with emerald water and lush plantations to comfort your exciting mind. Such visit really seems the closing up with a wonderland hidden.

Wu Gorge: it is the most beautiful gorge. Famous for its rising mists, it is like a mysterious young lady with spectacular sightseeing of deep valleys and prosperous plant-covered mountains by the wide water. In autumn, Wu Gorge changes its costume into orange and red with the vigorous red leaves embracing all mountains.

Qutang Gorge: this gorge is the most precipitous and most magnificent one among all the three gorges. Once you are sailing there, the steep hills that can be 1,500 meters high, and the narrow river path would leave you its dramatic but superb natural scenery, which makes you seem to travel in an art gallery of nature.

White Emperor City (290RMB/person): known as the “Poem City”, it is the creating site of numerous classic ancient poems of famous literati, including Li Bai, Du Fu, etc. Thus, follow the local guide to know those interesting stories to enjoy the cultural essence of this great place. Also, you can go to appreciate Kuimen Gate of the Qutang Gorge from the best angle of view.

Day 9Zhongxian: Shibaozhai Pagoda. B/L/D

After breakfast, you will visit the famous Shibaozhai Pagoda (about 2.5 hours). After lunch, you can join the various activities onboard. And a brief introduction of disembarkation will be held in the bar.

After dinner, the farewell dancing party or talent show will bring you more fun of the night on the Yangtze.

Shibaozhai Pagoda - the antique tower reputed as one of the gems of Chinese architectures and listed as one of the “Top 8 Most Peculiar Architectures in the World” by the American Discovery. This 12-story red wooden building stably standing along the mountain looks unbelievable and beautiful under sunshine. Climb from one level to the upper one to know the historical stories of the Yangtze River and reach the upper area to enjoy the view of Zhongxian County and Yangtze River.

Day 10Chongqing: Ship Disembarkation. B

After an early buffet breakfast onboard Century Sky, disembark around 08:30am from Chongqing Chaotianmen Port (朝天门码头) in the downtown.

Itinerary Valid Date: The itinerary of Shanghai - Chongqing Upstream cruise is valid only for upstream Century Sky cruises starting on November 3rd in 2019. The itinerary of Chongqing - Shanghai Downstream cruise is valid only for downstream Century Sky cruises starting on April 2nd and November 30th in 2019.

Subject to Change: Please note that all arrival and departure times, shore excursions and lectures are subject to change due to weather, river conditions and permission from the navigational authorities. The cruise company will arrange the same fabulous sightseeing if the prearranged sites cannot be visited in a particular case.

Embarkation & Disembarkation Ports: The pier used in Shanghai is the Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal 上海国际客运中心码头 (Address: No. 500 East Daming Road, Hongkou District, Shanghai). The pier used in Chongqing is called Chongqing Chaotianmen Port 重庆朝天门码头 (Address: No.17, Changbin Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing).

Shore Excursions: The ARRANGED shore excursions are included in your quotation, so you could visit the sites without extra charge. However, if you do not visit the sites, the fees of arranged shore excursion sites are not refunded. If you do not visit the shore excursions, you could stay on the ship to enjoy some leisure time. And for your safety, you are not allowed to leave your ship on your own.

The OPTIONAL shore excursions along the Shanghai Chongqing cruise need extra charge and are prepared based on the number of visitors who want to go. You can visit if there are 30 or more people interested (the number of visitors may be adjusted based on the real situation). You have the final decision to go or not on your own. (Dressing: dressing code for the party is not too strict. A suite, a tie, an evening dress, a pair of high-heels, etc. are not very strictly necessary.
