Tibet Will Build World’s Highest-Altitude Airport in Nagqu

China plans to construct world’s highest-altitude airport in Tibet in 2012. The airport, to be built in Naqgu prefecture, will cover a total area of 267 hectares.

The airport is designed to be built an altitude of 4,436 meters, 102 meters higher than the current world’s highest, Bamda Airport in Qamdo prefecture of Tibet.

According to the Tibetan Branch of China Civil Aviation Administration, it is expected to cost 1.8 billion yuan. The airport is planned to be in completion in three years.
