Stone forests geological park opens in Great Khingan

Located 120 km from Mohe County in Helongjiang Province, a geological park themed on stone forests opened in the Great Khingan range area in Northeast China.

Covering an area of 200 square km and with an average altitude of nearly 1000 m, the park is the northernmost geological park in the country.

The park features granite stone forests as the main attraction. Mohe stone forests are the northernmost stone forests in China; the area is also known as "the last primitive forest in the world". According to experts, the unique geological landscape resulted from the combined forces of glacial movements, natural weathering and erosion.

At the same time, the scenic area also features rare animal and plant species, like the dwarf Siberian pine, blueberry trees, hazel grouse and the peregrine falcon.
