On June 14th, the Chinese government released the price schedule for Beijing-Shanghai high-speed trains, which is scheduled going into operation on June 28th.
It is planned that 126 trains at the speed of 300km per hour will transfer between Beijing and Shanghai every day for the 1,318km journey, cutting the travel time from current 10 hours to 4hours and 48 minutes. Ticket prices for the new service will be RMB555 for second-class seats, RMB935 for first-class and RMB1,750 for business class.
The railway company also runs 54 trains at the speed of 250km per hour every day. The journey takes 7 hours and 56 minutes, and ticket prices will be RMB410 for second-class seats and RMB650 for first-class.
The Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway is a 1,318 kilometers long high-speed railway that connects two major economic zones in China. The construction of the railway began on April 18, 2008 and finished on November 15, 2010. And it is the world’s longest high-speed rail line ever constructed in a single phase.
